Todd Damiano
Born in Seattle, Todd Damiano is a landscape photographer living & working in Sacramento CA. His photography journey began as a teenager taking photographs of race cars at a local racetrack during the summer seasons. After receiving a BA in graphic design, he realized his heart was committed to making photographs. The darkroom was his home, where he came to experiment and create. His work became focused on landscapes that featured unusual, but naturally occurring lighting conditions. To enhance the effect he learned lith printing, a printing process that utilizes commercial film developers with special printing papers to create a range of colors within the b/w prints. Shortly after, the digital age arrived. This greatly reduced the availability of those specialty darkroom supplies so he transitioned into digital photography.
Years later, having acclimated to the new technology, Todd continued to refine his work. He began two projects, a collection featuring local work from the American River and a second collection captured from the Lake Tahoe Basin. Recently he’s come to recognize how these two groups of photographs are slowly beginning to merge, sharing the unusual lighting elements which provides him the creative space to explore the possibilities.
For past couple years he has begun to make his work available to the public. He has participated in group shows at the MACC in Rancho Cordova, View Point Gallery and Sacramento Fine Arts, each located in Sacramento, and now at Gold Country Artist Gallery in Placerville.
