Artist Background
Although I have always considered myself an artist, I initially chose a business career for practical reasons. In 2000, I began taking clay-throwing courses at a large community college, which led me to spend extensive time in the pottery shop and eventually become an apprentice. I learned wheel-throwing, glaze formulation, and firing techniques.
In 2002, I founded Mudipaws Pottery with a focus on sculpting dogs based on American Kennel Club (AKC) breed standards and by patrons’ pets. I sold my work at AKC dog shows throughout the country. My work was commissioned by national breed organizations to create unique series of competition trophies. These trophies included AKC activities; conformation, agility, and obedience.
In 2008, due to the economic downturn, I sold my studio and I joined the State of California as an auditor. After retiring from the State in 2023, I established a new pottery shop in Auburn, California. I have expanded my sculpting to include wildlife; giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, pandas, etc. I also create fan favorite snowmen characters.
