Judith Perry was born in Ohio and came to California before her first birthday, settling in the Bay Area with her parents. For as long as she can remember she has marveled at the beauty of California from the beautiful rugged coast to the Sierras and southern deserts. Throughout childhood she envisioned herself becoming an artist and bringing California’s beauty to life on the canvas.
Judith is essentially a self- taught artist but also has had the pleasure of studying with internationally known artist Anita Wolff. Recently she has had the opportunity to take workshops from such well known artists as Kim Lordier, Bob Rohm, Gil Dellinger, Maggie Price, Kathleen Dunphy, Terri Ford, Clark Mitchell and Terry Miura.
She captures the beauty and mystery of California from the rugged California coastline to the Sierras and southern deserts in her beloved medium of pastels. “When I’m painting, I can feel myself in the middle of the scene just reveling in the beauty of this wonderful place we call home – California”.
Judith has won many awards for her pastels including Best of Show, 2008 El Dorado County Fair, 2nd Place at the prestigious KVIE Art auction in 2009 for “Valley View-Yosemite”, 1st Place, Amador County Fair, Professional category for Pastels, 2011 First Place Sierra Pastel Society Exhibition, First Place 2012 Placerville Arts Association membership show just to name a few.
She is a signature member of the Sierra Pastel Society, and belongs to the California Art Club, Placerville Arts Association and El Dorado Hills Arts Association. She is currently showing at Gold Country Artists Gallery in Placerville and Arthouse at R – “Gang of 5” in Sacramento. You can also find her on Facebook– Judith Perry Fine Art.
