I was born in 1952. I sold my first painting when I was 12. I am self-taught, but have gained extensive education and experience in art since committing to this career path in 1976.
I am a full-time working artist: painter, printmaker, muralist, sign painter, designer, illustrator, sculptor, wood carver, and glass artist. Today, my primary activities are in stained and leaded glass, sandblast etching and carving, and custom metalwork incorporated in my glasswork.
My essence, though, is as a painter and sculptor. I get my inspiration from our visual world, and approach my work with a fine arts frame of reference. Whether I am involved in a glass project, oil painting, block print, or sculpture, I start with a vision I have appropriated from nature.
I spent many years working in Hollywood and Los Angeles, where I did numerous projects for Disneyland Parks worldwide. I had the opportunity to participate in various unusual painting and sculptural projects, partly due to my affiliation with production companies, ad agencies, and Buena Vista Pictures. I have painted clocks from Prague, Snow White’s portrait for the re-release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Pan Am logos for the Smithsonian Museum. I have made stained glass windows for Tom Cruise and Captain Kangaroo, and window gilding and historical lettering for The Beverly Hills Hotel.
A large part of my work has been for custom homes and restaurants through various architects and interior designers, which I continue to do. I recently relocated to El Dorado County and am very focused on my new works and the prospect of developing projects here in Northern California.
