Sandy Morgan - Jeweler
Six years ago, I started making jewelry as a hobby to relieve stress. First I started with wire wrap projects, and then I progressed to metal smithing and lapidary work. As a retired teacher I was used to having a limited or nonexistent budget, so when it came to materials for jewelry making, I started looking for treasures at second-hand stores. My creative talent led me to create unique wearable pieces out of recycled objects such as silver-plated trays, serving utensils and silverware. I am inspired by the objects themselves, not what they are but what they could become. My vision extends to found rocks, shells and recycled items. I also enjoy working with copper, as its rich warm color lends itself to many nature-inspired pieces. It is very rewarding to give these once-treasured family objects a new life. It is my hope that they can be enjoyed and treasured for many more years. I have been mentored by Linda Ricci and Betty Egger, and I have taken classes by known silversmiths Al Bolshazy and Alexis Hart. I have taught classes for the Amador County Gem and Mineral Society and Amador Arts.
